Details

Weird, mysterious and spine-tingling tales from the first horror comic title. There's also an atom-bomb story, and the kind of offbeat, unusual psychological tales that make these some of the most re-readable comics from the 1950. Editor/writer Richard Hughes wrote many of these and his skill as a writer kept this and Forbidden World going for years after other titles--and entire companies--bit the dust.

Stories include "Daughter of the Pharoahs," "The Plant That Lived," "Revolt of the Genie," "Apollo's Fatal Gloves," "Heart of the Snow Maiden," "The Little Witch," "D-E-V-I-L on your Dial," "The Floating Coffin," and "The Man Who Died Too Soon." Ken Bald's covers stand out in this run, as does the fine line artwork of Harry Lazurus, who is in nearly every issue.

Meticulously compiled from the original source material and painstakingly digitally restored. Additional artists include Charles Sultan, Lin Streeter. Jon Blummer, Charles Nicholas, Paul Cooper, Pete Riss, King Ward, and fabled 1940s Catman artist Charles Quinlan.
