Recommended. By Alphonse Mucha. Alphonse Mucha (Czech, 1860-1939) believed that beautiful art improved the quality of life. While he created many advertising posters and calendars for champagne, chocolate, biscuits, and the like, he also pioneered a new genre of decorative panels (panneaux decoratifs), posters without words that were a precursor to today’s art posters. He focused on nature—the seasons, flowers, gems, the arts—all with harmonious colors and decorative elements, starring beautiful women in diaphanous gowns.

Several of the images in this calendar are from those series, designed to elevate and inspire the viewer. A nice, fresh selection of work, several of which are new to us even though we've seen Mucha images for years. We like the theme and find this one of our favorites among the Mucha collections over the past years.
