In this first-ever memoir--illustrated in comic book form by celebrated artist Colleen Doran--Stan Lee tells the story of his life with the same inimitable wit, energy, and offbeat spirit that he has brought to the world of comics. From his first Captain America text story in 1941 to working with Ditko and Kirby, from his impoverished childhood in Manhattan to his early days writing comics, through his military training films during World War II and the rise of the Marvel empire in the 1960s to the current resurgence in movies. Amazing Fantastic Incredible documents possibly the most legendary name in the history of comic books. Stan has been the leading creative force behind Marvel Comics, and has brought to life--and into the mainstream--some of the world's best-known heroes and most infamous villains throughout his career and his many collaborations with Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and so many others.

The seminal artwork for many of the great characters and their first appearances is worked into the story here, as Stan describes Marvel's peaks and valleys throughout its long history, even to the bankruptcy in the 1990s and the various corporate take-overs.

His stories--filled with superheroes struggling with personal hang-ups and bad guys who possessed previously unseen psychological complexity--added wit and subtlety to a field previously locked into flat portrayals of good vs. evil.

It's an interesting read, and reveals previously unknown details about the creation of the MMMS and FOOM, ups and downs with the films, dealing with his publisher Martin Goodman, etc. A good read for any Marvel fan who wants to know more.
