- Full Description
Sketching and drawing are fundamental to creating great art; the simple doodle is often where artists first bring their ideas and concepts to life. In Sketching from the Imagination: Dark Arts, fifty talented traditional and digital artists showcase work, 6 pages for each, from their sketchbooks, share inspiration, and give insight into how they create imaginative and dark illustrations. Featuring a range of artwork and artists from many fields, from concept design and animation to illustration and comic art. We like this, one of our favorites in this series.
Beautifully macabre sketches with plenty of useful tips and creative insights—an invaluable resource that will inspire artists of all abilities. And for the non-artist, there's just lots and lots of cool artwork by a few familiar names, but mostly new talents previously unknown to us. Some nudity.
Includes work by Bill Carmen, Derek Castrio, who we really like, Matt Gordon, some very fine work by Jim Pavlec, Justin O'Neal, Fred Rambaud, Gary Villarreal (shown here), and Rotten Fantom (Elena & Vladimir Snegotskii). We've also scanned the work here by Chris Seaman, Bobby Rebholz, and Charles Lister.
We are treated to six or eight or even more drawings by each artist. They all introduce themselves and talk about the pieces, along with their techniques.
