- Full Description
Batman's rare 1960s newspaper adventures continue. Will Batman and Robin survive the double-dealings of Madame Zodiac, and the redoubtable Blue Max? The stories lose their camp and begin more traditional adventures. Our Caped Crusader is trapped on an island with an atomic time bomb. Can guest-stars Superman or Aquaman save him?
Episodes include "Superman's Missing Power," "Aqua-Batman," "Zodiac," and "Plastic Surgery."
The complete series, which ran from 1966 until 1972, has never been reprinted and will be collected in three definitive volumes. The strip debuted in May 1966 on the heels of the Batmania craze resulting from the hit television program. The series boasted stories by longtime editor Whitney Ellsworth and art by DC stalwarts Shelly Moldoff, Joe Giella, and Carmine Infantino.
At first, this series was a camp revival drawing on the popularity of the Batman TV. Later, it told more serious Batman stories, and featured guest appearances by Batgirl, Superman and Aquaman. A 1970 sequence featuring Green Arrow and Man-Bat was reprinted in Amazing World of DC Comics #4-5 (1975) but aside from that, these strips have never before been collected.
Handsome oblong format (matching the Superman Silver Age volumes) combining black & white dailies and full color Sunday pages, with both integral to each episode.
