Collects Batman/The Shadow #1-6 and stories from Batman Annual #1. Highly Recommended. By Steve Orlando and Scott Snyder. Art by Riley Rossmo. This looks very good--it has a real pulp atmosphere, right down to Batman in a primitive costume and handling .45s like the Shadow. The original pulp magazine Shadow was a major influence of the creation of Batman by Bob Kane and Bill Finger...now they finally meet. Excellent and nicely detailed art, reminding us of Michael Kaluta. While investigating a murder, Batman's prime suspect is Lamont Cranston. Two problems, though. Batman is not aware Lamont's alter ego is the master detective known as the Shadow. Two, and more importantly, Cranston seems to have died over half a century ago!
