Almost Gone! By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock Holmes is still highly popular more than 100 years after his creation, evidenced by the two recent films starring Robert Downey Jr. And by the outstanding BBC series, starring Benedict Cumberbach, which I enthusiastically recommend if you have not yet seen these. It's superb. Anyway, Doyle himself acknowledge his debt to non-other than Edgar Allan Poe when he created Sherlock and even included an inside joke about this in the novel. Here we have a wonderfully painted cover by none other than Mort Kunstler, and the adaptation drawn by Seymour Moskowitz, who had just recently drawn King--of the Khyber Rifles for CI.
