Canadian publisher Superior Comics throws their hat into the the four-color horror ring with tales bizarre and quirky and it’s keeping on here. All work here is by unknown Iger Shop creators, though they do capture the style of Jack Kamen and Al Feldstein quite well as they churned this work out, trying to out-gore the competition and get the reader's dime. Stories include Howling Horror, Death's Rehearsal, Evil Disguise, The Kill, One Was Human, The Sea Goblins, Corpse Come Back, Happily Dead, A Debt to the Devil, etc. Learn More

Fawcett had the budget to hire the best, so when they started their horror, fantasy and sci-fi comics, you got some of the best material outside of EC. George Evans is doing work here as good as anything at EC. Bernard Baily, whose horror work is held in high esteem these days, does at least one cover and some stories. Bob Powell is giving it his usual 100%. Written with more plot and better dialogue, these are not the blood and gore that the other publishers depended upon. This is an exceptional pre-code title. Learn More
  6. PRE-CODE CLASSICS Atomic War! & Captain Courageous Volume 1

This four-issue run of Ace's Atomic War! focuses on the big "Hoo Boy, here comes the End of Everything!" approach we all of us figured would be the way humankind would hand in its chips in the fifties, with mushroom clouds aplenty, bombs the size of city blocks, and floods to make Noah's problem look easy. Great work by Lou Cameron in every issue and on multiple stories, too. Plus a real oddity from 1942, the 64-page one-shot Captain Courageous, packed with forgotten superheroes and adventurers in wartime stories. Learn More
