$150.00
Highly Recommended. By Stan Lee. Art by Jack Kirby. An outstanding three-part collection. First we are treated to FIVE COMPLETE STORIES, all from the original art: Ant Man's origin from Tales to Astonish #35; Captain America #81, "The Red Skull Supreme;" The Human Torch in "Return of the Wizard," Strange Tales #105; Sgt. Fury #6, "Fangs of the Desert Fox," and X-Men #7, "The Return of the Blob." All drawn in the old Twice-Up format (meaning this is a BIG book!). Plus: SEVEN COMPLETE pre-hero Monster stories AND finally, 27 covers, splash and pin-up pages from more very early issues.

For instance, these gallery pages are taken from books like Strange Tales #89 "Fin Fang Foom", Two-Gun Kid #58, a rare monster cross-over with "The Monster from Hidden Valley," Tales of Suspense #31, "The Monster in the Iron Mask," and more from Journey Into Mystery #58, 60 and 77, Strange Tales #95, Tales to Astonish#18, "Gorgilla Strikes Again."

Plus even more, the long Gallery section features covers and/or interior pages from more very early super-hero books like The Incredible Hulk #4, X-Men #8, 9, 10 (an unpublished cover) and 30, Avengers #2 and 16, Fantastic Four #11 (pin-up page), Thor #136, Tales of Suspense #86, 92, 98 and much more. Even a rare one-off Captain America illustration, inked by Don Heck, in full color. Dick Ayers and Joe Sinnot are also frequent inkers here, as well as Colletta, Chic Stone, Frank Giacoia and others.

As a big fan of this early Marvel work, I really like this. Without checking each and every piece, I think this is almost entirely from around 1960 to 1968 or so, I love being able to actually read the complete stories direct from the original art. Each page comes with its corrections, blue pencils, erasures and notes in the borders--and the occasional signature or inscription to some fan.

This includes material from several of Kirby's best-known monster stories. Someone did a very good job of picking this selection of art. It's a keeper for me.
