Barbarella has been lied to. Worse, she's been weaponized, and someone's going to answer for that, for sure. (Well, assuming she survives the judgement of the Esseverine sun-giants, and an armada of a thousand ships...). Things are definitely never dull for Barbarella no matter what planet—or galaxy—she is in! This volume wraps up the 1st 2017-2018 mini-series, which featured Barbarella's first new comic book adventures in several decades. First created by Jean-Claude Forrest as a French graphic novel, she became ever better known after actress Jane Fonda starred in the cult film Barbarella (1968).
Here's a review of the film from Google, by Catherine Sweeney, which nicely sums up Barbarella in both the film and in her comic appearances:
Absolutely unique wacky science fiction nonsensical tale that’s surprisingly funny. The special effects are great for the era adding to the fun. Oozing fabulous refreshingly sexy costumes, plenty of flesh in both the women and men actors. One scene with women on hooka pipes smoking "essence of man" while an actual man floats around in a giant bubbling cauldron is wild. Of course Jane Fonda is the major reason to watch this. She [is] completely daffy and gorgeous and a total babe. Really fun. Look out for sweet French mime artist Marcel Marceau as one of the main characters of The Labyrinth (he has a speaking part).
