- Full Description
Richard Corben's Edgar Allan Poe adaptations from limited series, Dark Horse Presents and other sources. Fine work, with more than a hint of adult and nudity in most stories! Includes the title story, Alone, The City in the Sea, The Sleeper, The Assignation, Berenice, Morella, Shadow, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Masque of the Red Death, The Conqueror Worm, The Premature Burial, The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado--and the brand-new story for this edition: The Man of the Crowd.
Richard Corben has always had a highly individual skill at creating horror. It began where he first began, in the pages of late 1960s and early 1970s fanzines and underground comics. He's come full circle, now doing the same kinds of macabre material, but for big time publishers in his superb style, which just keeps getting better and better. He has both adapted the stories here, and has done the coloring, along with Beth Corben Reed. Coloring has also been a strong point for Corben, from the very beginning...he once created his own color separations (when they were still done by hand) for the early underground comics.
