The Tower of the Elephant and other stories! Conan the Barbarian stars in more very early adventures in his career--legendary tales filled with swords, sorcery, giant spiders and monstrous creatures -- including stories adapted from the original works of Robert E. Howard! Stealing priceless gems, then, a dalliance with a magistrate's wife spells trouble, and Conan's adventures in the City of Thieves continue as he runs a gauntlet of threats both human and inhuman! But what grotesque horrors await him in the Hall of the Dead?

And is anybody ready for Conan...the King? Plus, tales of Conan's youth as he braves the Battle of Brita's Vale -- and rides a wild Cimmerian bull! Cary Nord is one of our favorite contemporary Conan artists, so he's a highlight here. But we also have Mike Mignola, Tim Truman, Eric Powell, Greg Ruth...and even work by Michael Kaluta. This Dark Horse series is very well done, packaged like this in thick, massive collections.

Bonus features are many, including three separate forwards by Busiek, Kaluta and Mignola, nine pages of creature and character studies, a complete script, Mignola layouts with Cary Nord's pencils, side by side, and an essay by Mark Finn, "Howardian versus Lovecraftian: Friendship and Literary Influence."
