As Atlas Comics revived their super hero titles, the star-spangled Sentinel of Liberty took on a new mission -- smashing the rise of Communism across the globe! But an old enemy lies in wait: the Red Skull! In this complete collection of ALL of their 1950s revival, Cap and Bucky charge into action against fifth columnists, Soviet spies, secret agents from around the globe, and fearsome foes from Electro to the Executioner! Plus, a modern-day story by Howard Chaykin features our 1950s-era Cap, as he teams up with none other than Nick Fury! 16 pages of Bonus material.

The bonus material includes a new introduction by Jess Harold, an afterword about the Atlas heroes by Roy Thomas, a cool original 1954 ad for the three revived titles (shown here), and a heap of pages, inked, but without lettering or coloring, by Romita, Mort Lawrence and Chaykin.

These books have been scarce and highly collectible for years and years. The last three issues of the original Captain America series, in particular, have always been very hard to find in any grade. It‘s very cool to finally have ALL these Cap stories in one place. John Romita was just starting out when he did these, more than a decade before he would take over Spider-Man after Steve Ditko left the series. But his work here is still stand-out, strong work for an artist just getting his wings.

I just hope they do the same for the Human Torch and Sub-Mariner 1950s stories, but this may be the one-and-only book in this series to celebrate this unique superhero revival. We'll wait and see.

Celebrate 80 years of Marvel Comics, decade by decade, with the complete shield-slinging adventures of the Captain America of the Fab Fifties!
