Before Two-Fisted Tales burst onto the scene in 1950, war comics were largely unsophisticated, focusing only on action and adventure/wartime propaganda. But under the editorial direction of Harvey Kurtzman--who also penned the majority of the stories therein--Two-Fisted Tales dared to examine all the horror and madness of war, from ancient times to the Civil War to WWI, WWII and Korea. And by a who's who of artists.
Features stories created by comic artists Jack Davis, Joe Kubert, Wally Wood, Gene Colan, Johnny Craig, Reed Crandall, Will Elder, Ric Estrada, George Evans, and John Severin! Here are tales of knights of the middle ages, of Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee, of submarine battles in WWII, the Signal Corps, Hannibal and his barbaric hordes attacking Europe, air war in WWI, etc. Issue #31 is entirely devoted to the Civil War.
Introduction by Grant Geissman. Fully remastered digital color. Brilliant work and lots of it by Wood, Davis, Severin, plus rare appearances by Crandall (who did more horror and crime work than war stories) and Kubert, who was never an EC regular but came on board for just a very short time.
