Daring combat and deeds of honor set in many different periods in world history! Probably EC's very best "New Direction" title, here the complete run of Valor. Written by Otto Binder and Carl Wessler, tales of knights of the Round Table, the Crusades, Roman gladiators, war and combat. Beautifully drawn by the veteran EC artists as a title released to try and survive the effects of the comics code. It lasted five glorious issues. Foreword by acclaimed comics writer, P. Craig Russell!

Includes several fine collaborative stories, including Al Williamson and Angelo Torres and Williamson and George Evans. Both Williamson and Wally Wood have stories in four of the five issues, plus Wood provides the covers to three issues. Krigstein appears in every issue, Crandall in two, and Ingles in four! Crandall's stories are also a high point, as this was an area he excelled at, with authentic costumes and weapons.

Wood's work includes "The Return of King Arthur," a poignant story of the legendary king who turns out to be more than a mere legend. Joe Orlando was still drawing in his best Wood style, and his contributions here are also first rate.

EC was trying very hard to create a title that combined the combat features of Two-Fisted Tales and Frontline Combat, with coverage of a far wider range of history. As good as any work in the former titles, this is a gem of a series. If there is just one New Direction title you want in the Archives series, this is the one I'd recommend. But of course, Piracy comes in a close second and we hope to see that soon!

“Reading these comics now is a lot like watching The Twilight Zone -- an uncomplicated, pure look at the roots of an enduring genre.” --Paste Magazine

“These books really do deserve every accolade they’ve ever received.” --Comics Round Table
