Over one hundred expertly restored full color Sunday pages on archive-quality paper, full size and in color, replicating their original appearance! Second of three volumes collecting Foster's entire run; this completes the famous "Egyptian Saga," with the last three storylines, plus "Tarzan and the Mysterious Maiden" parts 1 and 2, "Tarzan Against Dester Molu," and the superb "Tarzan and the Lost Vikings."

No expense has been spared on this fine and enormous volume, which ships in its own cardboard box. The intro pages by Kane, which are thoroughly illustrated with rare Foster artwork, are printed on separate parchment-like paper. And you can see Foster develop his style from story to story...the Vikings story is so much of a precursor for Prince Valiant, it's crazy...even Tarzan wields a sword and helps these lost Norseman survive the jungles of Africa and sail back to their homeland.

The "Mysterious Girl" is a feisty blonde flyer whose plane comes down in the jungle. Tarzan takes her under his protection, and by the second sequence, a lost kingdom wants to make her its goddess as she tries to save Tarzan from death at the hands of the warriors. She's not the only attractive girl lost in the jungle: the Egyptian sequence has another interesting lady who Tarzan rescues time and again, once astride a horse leaping across tall chasms (see our scan).

Volume 3 will complete Foster's run; Burne Hogarth took over when Foster left to start his masterpiece, Prince Valiant, which began in 1937! Kane's substantial introduction is "From Forests Primeval to Warriors Medieval" examines not only the fine stories here, but how miserly King Features lost Foster when he got disgusted with his very low pay and finally left to start his own--and far more lucrative--creation, Prince Valiant.
