Signed, numbered, limited, 295! Highly Recommended. By William Stout.

Enormous heavy white clamshell slipcase with a color illustration on the front, black and white works on four sides (it's almost 3 inches deep). Swing open the cover to reveal  within, secured with bands in the cover on the left,  a special oversized hardcover portfolio, unique to this edition. Open that to find the limitation plate tipped in, with a full color image describing the contents, signed by Bill and numbered from 295. This also encloses four rare art prints which indeed look new to us (nicely detailed and in full color)--each printed on beautiful thick art paper, perfect for mounting. Nestled in the box on the right side is the hardcover art book itself, in a special jet black cloth binding with silver embossed titles front and spine. Lift that out to reveal a bonus unique 32-page 7x11 "comic book" with a new 2018 cover, a 1989 story by Harvey Kurtzman and Stout to start, then many more published and unpublished strips and works, most in full color, printed on very high quality stock.

It's all very impressive. The price is dear, but I have to admit, with just 295 copies, this will probably sell out rather quickly and be one of the very key William Stout collectible pieces for years to come. Here is more about Bill and about the art book itself:

From his cult movie posters to his epic paleoart, celebrate the life and work of William Stout with this stunning monograph featuring the most iconic artwork from the multi-talented muralist, illustrator, and designer. We will pay shipping and insurance on orders within the U.S.

Bill has created a body of work that transcends genre, medium, and industry during his astonishing forty-year career. He has designed album covers for the Who and the Rolling Stones, worked on films ranging from Ralph Bakshi’s Wizards to Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, and brought the world of the dinosaurs to life through highly acclaimed paleoart.

Now Stout fans can relive the life and career of their favorite artist with this breathtaking monograph. Curated by the artist himself, Fantastic Worlds: The Art of William Stout bursts with the most iconic imagery in Stout’s oeuvre. From his student years to his robust career as a painter, illustrator, and more, Fantastic Worlds gives readers an in-depth understanding of how Stout developed as an artist, illustrated by his most inspired work. Visually stunning and definitive, Fantastic Worlds is the ultimate Stout retrospective—the perfect way for fans to commemorate the extraordinary work of a one-of-a-kind artist.
