Collects #1-5, 1951-52. Recommended. By Richard Hughes. Art by Al Williamson & Frazetta, Wally Wood, Ogden Whitney et al. Publisher ACG introduced the first ongoing horror comic title, Adventures Into the Unknown, in 1948. Now it's 1950, and their artist line-up was beginning to take a great leap forward. Here suddenly we have two full stories by Al Williamson, in his pre-EC days, one collaborating with Frank Frazetta, the other with Wally Wood! We also have great horror tales drawn by Charles Sultan and Lin Streeter, two excellent Golden Age vets, as well as the ACG mainstay Ogden Whitney, who would become a regular cover artist for all through the 1950s.

Here are collected FIVE wonderful 52-page issues. Stories include "Dead Man's Doom," "The League of Vampires," "Domain of the Doomed," "Skull of the Sorcerer," "A Queen for the Voodoo Chief," "Whirlpool of Death," "Doom of the Moonlings," and much more. Editor and chief writer Richard Hughes is still highly acclaimed for his exceptional ability to pen stories that rise above the average pre-code horror fare. Here he offers unique plot twists and offbeat tales that are still fun to read today.

This is an entirely separate new series from the Dark Horse collections--those collect four issues each book--these collect five issues. Published by PS Art Books in England, this includes a special introduction by the publisher and a new "re-imagined" painting of the #5 cover by artist Edward Miller, that's very cool. Plus a long, illustrated introduction by illustrator Les Edwards, who puts the title in perspective with Ditko Charlton stories, Lee & Kirby monster comics, and even Famous Monsters and Spacemen Magazine from Warren.
