The publisher Fiction House was infamous for what Dr. Wertham called "headlight comics." The Pre-Code publisher used their buxom heroines to star in jungle comics, science fiction tales, and scary GHOST STORIES! Here's the sexiest and scariest of these poltergeist-infused Good Girl Art comics--all 11 Ghost covers plus complete "Ghost Gallery" stories that first appeared in Jumbo Comics between 1942 and 1952--then reprinted in the Ghost Comics run!
Here's a quote from my friend and the editor, Craig Yoe: "I want the Bud Plant fans (and I'm definitely one!) to know that sexy Ghost Gallery stories in this Pre-Code collection are so good they're scary!" There's also unpublished Jack Kamen, and pages reproduced from the original art by Matt Baker and others.
It's fascinating to me (Bud here) that we attribute the first horror comics ACG's seminal title from 1948, Adventures Into the Unknown. Bill Gaines took the ball and ran with it with his EC titles. But long before this, good-girl publisher Fiction House was doing pioneering (to comics) supernatural, horror and ghost stories. And here are the very best of them.
Plus special features, offering a long introduction with cool artwork, including pages of original art, a feature on Fiction House's best cover artist, Maurice Whitman, who did all these wonderful Ghost Comics covers, and much, much more.
Comics from the collection of Jim Vadeboncoeur, Jr. Curated and introduced by Michael H. Price.
