- Full Description
American Mitch O'Connell gets the cover feature, with a lengthy look at his hip, airbrushy pop culture-inspired images of Bettie Page and others. Our favorite feature is 21 incredible pages featuring another American, Jeff Miracola, whose fantasy art was directly inspired by his youthful discovery of Boris. He has been featured in Spectrum and Magic the Gathering.
Plus Sep Scott, British illustrator of books, strips and boy's annuals. His classic style is in that typical British school of C.E. and H.M. Brock, even of Fortunino Mantania's color work (Scott worked for the same publisher), heroic characters from Robin Hood to King Arthur's knights, pirates and adventurers, often for the covers of the long-running boy's annuals.
These include War Picture Gallery and Thriller Comics Library, who (like Classics Illustrated did) featured famous novels from Lorna Doone and The Prisoner of Zenda, to The Four Feathers, St. George of England and Hereward the Wake.
And Brook Boynton, who in this new interview discusses her career launch into the world of children's books. We rather like her work, also, though she's a name new to us.
Tor Upson allows us just a glimpse of this new illustrator and his hip, modern style.
