Venture back to the Golden Age of illustration with this sumptuous collection of images, reprinted in full color! This gorgeous compilation collects rare artwork by Arthur Rackham, Willy Pogany, Gustaff Tengren, Frank Godwin, the great Sarah Stillwell Weber, Heinrich Kley, Charles Robinson and many more! This lovingly curated magazine is loaded with vibrant images of knights, damsels in distress, early advertising works, book covers and illustrations from publisher Vadeboncoeur's personal collection.

Also work by Henry Clive, F.M. Boggs, Erich Schutz, René Vincent, Julias Diaz, Hermann Vogel (nearly unknown but a brilliant anthropomorphic animal & fairy tale artist from Germany, circa 1890s...a favorite of mine, he will remind you of Harrison Cady and, yes, Walt Kelly!). Also the wonderful Eric Pape, and seven full pages of plates by Sigismund de Ivanowski, who paints the greats, in costume, of the 1908 theater for The Century Magazine, including Maud Adams as Peter Pan and Annie Russell as Puck from A Midsummer Night's Dream.

A wonderfully varied collection of rare work by illustrators taken from magazines and books published prior to 1923. The artists will be familiar, but these images are culled from very obscure sources and have never been reprinted. Editor Jim Vadeboncoeur carefully scans each image and corrects it, often taking badly printed original appearances and vastly improving them. He also often features art from original artwork, having many sources for such material.

Jim spares no time nor expense to make this the finest possible magazine, printed on high quality heavy glossy paper, in the U.S. Each page is beautifully reproduced using the latest and best technology (Stochastic Printing, which yields blacker blacks and richer colors).

Vadeboncoeur has collected art and illustration for near 50 years now, so his sources are vast. Even the most veteran collector will find not only images from favorite artists that are new, but artists themselves who have previously escaped attention. I say this from first-hand experience, being a collector as long as Jim has been, but seeing both artists and images new to me. Limited to 2,000 copies.
