Highly Recommended. By Brian Kesinger. Brian Kesinger's first book, Walking Your Octopus, won a Chesley award from the Association of Science Fiction & Fantasy Artists. Brian is also an Annie Award-winning story artist who has worked on over ten Disney animated feature films from Tarzan to Moana. His first two "Octopus" books have our highest recommendation. Now we have an entirely new book which is virtually a paper doll book, with cut-out-able costumes & outfits for both our heroine and her pet octopus. Printed on extremely heavy card stock for long use. Or it's still a visual feast of steam-punkish costumes!

It seems a shame to cut this up, but if you are a true fan, you can keep intact the deluxe hardcover edition and turn the kids (or yourself) loose on a softcover and have at it. Or you could buy two; I can imagine the most dedicated Octopus fans are going to do that. It really could be worth it, this looks like fun.

I could imagine this could be the right kid's dream book, with such imaginative artwork. Lovely Victoria Prismall gets the most stunning costumes, but even Otto the octopus gets his own zany outfits--cthluhlu, swordfighter, Japanese samurai, chef, tea-server (from Alice in Wonderland). You can creat your own adventures or tableaux.

Say Brian himself: "Marvel at toys made from the printed page...good, old fashioned, interactive entertainment in the tradition of days gone by. We provide the character; you provide the story."

Victoria gets everything from a rocket pack to a Scots' tartan and bagpipes, full Victorian ballroom dress, 1950s beatnik, 1970s flower girl, even a Star Wars/Darth Vader outfit complete with light saber. This is a series that appeals to everyone, kids to young ladies to women, yes, mature women. I take these books to conventional anquarian book shows and they sell themselves.

Brian's visual mashups combining Star Wars with Calvin and Hobbes have become an internet phenomena. To find out more, visit his website at www.bkartonline.com. You can also find him on Facebook by searching for “Brian Kesinger's Tea Girls.”
