Lots of exceptional artwork by Lou Cameron. This also reprints, as issue #19, the entire Challenge of the Unknown #6, a one-shot with "Villa of the Vampire" by Mike Sekowsky, which was used in the N.Y. Joint Legislative Committee in their attack on comics. Plus more classic horror and fantasy stories in bad and badder taste, from the under-appreciated Ace Magazines. Ace's first choice for this title was Creepy Stories but the name was changed before the first issue came out in 1951.

The Lou Cameron work is among his finest: "Out of the Black Night." "The Night the Statues Walked" and "She Shrieked with Horror" are all outstanding and worth your attention, and "Legion of the Doomed" is a great comeuppance for an Iron Curtain baddie, but it's "Realm of the Lost Faces" that goes right out in Dali-land, with an amazing splash page with a dragon acting as the border, and a hero who has literally lost his face. And "She Stalks at Sundown" offers more Frazetta-esque panels, featuring a beautiful scantily-clad jungle girl who transforms into a leopard to ravish her lover.

Also here is "Long Arm of the Undead," another fine Frazetta-esque story with a beatiful brunette who is consumed by "The Flame of Evil." And there is the "Oozing Horror," a fun pirate story that finds a beautiful girl and her new husband trapped on a ghost ship. Includes several stories by Sekowsky.

This was one of the longer runs of pre-code horror titles--with 29 issues it even outlasted EC's three series.
