With never-before-seen sketches, fan favorite classic pieces, and essays and commentary from contemporaries, collaborators, and Stelfreeze himself, readers and fans get an unprecedented look at how favorite characters and adventures were born. Stelfreeze is a painter, penciller, and comic book artist who has worked for nearly every major comic book publisher. Primarily known as a cover artist, painting more than fifty covers for DC's Shadow of the Bat, he's also produced a significant amount of sequential work, including BOOM! Studios' Day Men, and Matador for Wildstorm.

He's a master of understated action and suspense, taking a page from pioneer narrative masters like Will Eisner and Alex Toth. And his painted specialty work here is outstanding, from Hollywood portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Ingrid Bergman and Audry Hepburn and fictional characters like Lisbeth Salander, James Bond and Vesper Lynd, to comics portraits of Poison Ivy, Dawn (pictured here), The Joker, Daredevil and Black Widow, Superboy, Obi Wan Kenobi, Vampirella and Batgirl.

A very handsome, oversized coffee table book that perfectly showcases his work in very large size, often full pages, and many times double-page size. Brian is one of the original members of Atlanta's Gaijin Studios.

In this restrospective of his work, Stelfreeze's stunning illustrations, expressive characters and cinematic layouts are documented in exquisite detail.
