- Full Description
On the great plains of the old American west, an enormous steam-powered robot marches across the countryside, to defend the populace against invading Martians (a War of the Worlds tie-in) and armies of killer beastly Morlocks (and even more elemental, a tie in to The Time Machine)! The Steam Man, a giant metal man operated by a team of monster hunters, seems to have the defense of the West well in hand, until a crazed and powerful vampire--our warped Time Traveler--tries to bring about the apocalypse!
A violent story, as fans of Lansdale will expect. There is no mercy from the baddies, in fact, they like to eat their enemies. Our mixed band of heroes are up against sadistic evil incarnate, and will be truly tested trying to keep their giant robot operating, and to just keep alive. They won't all make it, and no one escapes unscathed.
Artist Kowalski provides some brilliant painted covers that are as steam-punk as you can get today, lovely work. And he adds four pages of prelim skeches and commentary about developing our steam man and his cohorts.
