Mickey Mouse and the Bat Bandit of Inferno Gulch, 1974. Highly Recommended. By Floyd Gottfredson. Back in 1974, the only reprints ever done of Barks or Gottfredson material was in the comics themselves, and often badly printed. Suddenly Whitman stepped up and issued four wonderful softcover booklets, beautifully printed, with classic material. Today these little gems are quite collectible-near mint minus (9.2) copies guide at $95 in Overstreet. We have just uncovered several sets in the original retailer counter-display boxes, in pristine condition, and offer them here far below present market value.

Collector Jim Vadeboncoeur, Jr. bought several boxes of these directly from us, one of his rare speculations, back when we were selling them in our catalog. He packed them in a corner and there they sat until he recently began selling off his collection. These copies are as pristine as if they were published yesterday. Separately we are offering a few that were slightly scuffed at even less, as well as the display boxes.

In 1930 Walt Disney asked Floyd Gottfredson, a Disney Animation employee at the time, to draw the daily and Sunday Mickey newspaper strips for a couple of weeks. Floyd continued drawing the strips for forty-five years. Many of the Mickey adventure stories illustrated by Floyd in the 1930's and 1940's are remembered by men and women who are now grandparents and great-grandparents. It is for them and their children and grandchildren that these favorite stories were reissued. This story, Mickey Mouse and the Bat Bandit of Inferno Gulch, first appeared as a King Features Syndicated comic strip in newspapers in 1934.

This is billed on the cover as "The First Complete Presentation of this Adventure Classic from the early Mickey Comic Strips."
