Recommended. By Moebius & Jodorowsky. This is a very special graphic story, told with almost no words. It was the very first collaboration between Jodorowsky and Moebius, done purely for the love of the project and for no pay whatsoever. The original edition was distributed for free, but soon it was pirated and today they sell for 100 Euros (about $150). The story features a sightless monk and a powerful, predatory eagle flying through a deserted city, Directed by the monk, it is looking for new eyes for his master. There are no panels, each page is a full, finely detailed drawing printed in black on striking yellow paper.

First published c.1976, this includes a new introduction by Jodorowsky. He talks about this novel, which came about after the two men met working together on pre-production for the the never-produced film Dune, with Chris Foss, Giger and Dan O'Bannon. Jodorowsky describes how the book came about from an idea of his and then fleshed out by Moebius. As each page was finished, Jodorowsky would jump into his car and drive 30 miles out to Moebius' to see it, with the most pleasure he'd ever gotten from working in the comics medium. All newly designed with a different cover than the original edition.

"I have always been an admirer of Moebius for many years. His work had a strong influence on two of my earlier films, Alien and Blade Runner. His imagination and way of perceiving and seeing are unique." -Director Ridley Scott.
