- Full Description
Drawn by two of the true great comic book legends, Jack Kirby and Gil Kane, this is a facsimile collection of a ”long-lost,” unpublished legendary comic book based on the cult classic 1967 British TV show, The Prisoner. The amazing television series was co-created, written, and directed by the star, Patrick McGoohan. This was a well-done but ultimately aborted project, by two of comics‘ top creators at the time. Includes complete script, page breakdowns with original penciled art, all finished art and all art in pencils.
The first story was by Jack Kirby. The first pages are finished in ink, the rest in highly detailed pencils. Then we have a second story by Gil Kane which is entirely in pencils. So far, all this is full sized. The Kane work is sans text, but then we get another version of the pencils WITH the text laid in, so you can read it. And alongside those pages, which are smaller, you are provided the original manuscript and page breakdowns, written by Steve Englehart. Steve also provides a special article about writing The Prisoner, which was just written for this publication in 2018.
We also get supplemental material, such as a full color, double page work by Kirby; The Bay-Con 2 promotional cover art by Kane and inked by Steve Leialoha. Also here is the complete 7-page ITC Prisoner Press Book and "The Story of the Prisoner" by Rick Davy. Foreword by Mike Royer.
Produced oversized to best show off the pages, like a slightly thinner Studio Edition or Artist's Edition.
