- Full Description
One of Donald Duck's most famous adventures leads off Fantagraphics' new line of affordable kid-sized Donald Duck books: just-right half-height with that Barks magic, both long adventure stories and shorter ten and single pagers. Each story is complete with all the original story and art (no panels have been dropped or altered).
In "Donald Duck and the Ghost of the Grotto," Donald and his nephews try to harvest kelp at Skull-Eye Reef in the West Indies but are soon menaced by a ducknapping ghost in armor who is determined to carry out a centuries-old curse and a giant octopus who -- well, what do you think giant octopuses do? Plus "Fireman Donald," a classic as an inept Donald tries to be a fire fighter but just keeps getting it wrong. In more stories, the kids decide to raise bees in the backyard, and Donald and the kids go to the desert to prospect for gold.
Great color reproduction and a very attractive, inviting format, oblong with 128 pages (one comic page is split into every two pages to keep panels the same size as originally published, back in the 1940s and 1950s.
Praise for Carl Barks:
