Award winning artist Stout examines and displays his amazing dinosaur murals in this trip back to the Stone Age! Containing all of Stout's murals from the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Disney World's Animal Kingdom and the San Diego Natural History Museum, these works are renowned for their scientific accuracy and emotional resonance. Includes details, preliminary studies, and lots of commentary from Bill about each piece. Absolutely beautiful!

Bill begins with life before dinosaurs, and illustrates the early denizens of the ocean and swamps. He also discusses the importance of murals as art, a genre that has ebbed and flowed as a popular form of art for thousands of years. As recently as the 1930s, murals were wildly popular and the top artists were invited to create them for major Federal and State buildings. Today interest has returned, but now in murals as outdoor artwork, beginning with spraycan art and graphitti, and morphed into major works encompassing entire walls of downtown buildings, beautifying and adding excitement and interest for all to enjoy.

Some of these pieces are just packed with animals, like the pictures we used to find in the National Geographic, trying to capture the wide variety of creatures from various epochs. Bill has done it again here, with sabre-tooths and wolves, dinosaurs large and small, abundant marine creatures in a deep blue sea, mastodons and other mammals as they came of age... this is cool on so many levels.
