- Full Description
This ground-breaking collector’s edition features over 300 pieces of art from the world's best fantasy, science fiction, and horror artists in a range of various media. If you like the Spectrum Annual and can't get enough...here's more, with some of the same but many new and different talents from around the world. Grand Prize winners include Donato Giancola, Linda Adair, Jeff Easley, Matthew Mrowka and sculptor Thomas Kyebler . This year's judges: Allen Williams, Erica Berkowitz, Lauren Panepinto and Patrick Jones.
From fantastic scenes of science fiction to the worlds of fantasy and horror, this book has it all and will appeal to anyone who appreciates the fantastic arts. Artwork included in IBA Volume Four ranges from traditionally drawn and painted art, to artwork done digitally, as well as sculpture. Each piece of art was hand picked by a select group of judges. With over 100 years of combined experience, each of these artists are uniquely qualified to decide the best of the best in all of the submissions to IBA for Volume Four.
Stephanie Law is here, whose book Descants and Cadences was our first introduction to her work. Michael Hayes appears, whose fine convention art books we handle. Also Stephan Martiniere, whose books we've also handled. But as I flip through, there are so many names unknown to me but doing superbly high quality work--like Raoul Vitale, Bastien Lecouffe Deharme, James Coffron, Oliver Wetter, Lucas Durham.
Each of the judges have work here. Well-known children's artist Ruth Sanderson is represented by a fine oriental-themed piece. Jody Lee and Rhonda Libbey are also new to us, but have two brilliant pieces. The mermaid work we've scanned is by Libbey.
Each page features the name of the artist, the title of the art, the medium in which it was created, and the artist’s website.
