The first novel in a new series. This chronicles shipwreck, clashes between the native Icelanders and these rough sailors from England. Jacques is an outsider and so he's estranged from nearly the entire population, left out in the cold to die. But a young girl insists that her family get involved and take him in, so he can slowly begin to learn how to stay alive in this forbidding and unfriendly land.
