Recommended. By Nikolai Gogol. Art by Sidney Miller. Originally published by the Gilberton Company in 1961 under the Classics Illustrated banner, this 48-page graphic novel has been quite handsomely remastered. Although the artist is new to us, the work is solid and modern, rather than the sometimes dated 1940s work. This is about Taras Bulba, the handsome and daring Cossack chief who led his people against the invading Mongols. Gogol biography, article by Guy de Maupassant and Stephen Crane as well as a 5-page history of Egyptian Pharoah Thutmosis III.
