The very best yet in this amazing series of lavishly illustrated editions, filled with fine artwork and bonus features. This includes two editions designed as they would have been published in the 1930s or 40s by ERB Inc. and Grosset & Dunlap, right down to the binding cloth and embossed title logos. Each book has a different binding, different front/end matter, and different dust jackets, one by Bob Eggleton, the other by Douglas Klauba. Inside each are the same story, 20 color illustrated plates including 12 newly colorized plates of art by Reed Crandall and J. Allen St. John and 90 b&w illustrations. The two books are each numbered and signed by all four contributors: Eggleton, Klauba, Kevin Anderson and Dick Lupoff!

Two different cover designs (stamps) by Zavier Cabarga.

"For John Carter of Mars we have upped the color illustrated plates to 20 (including 12 newly colorized plates by Phil Normand of art by Reed Crandall and J. Allen St. John) and the b&w illustrations to almost 90. In addition, the book will have four appendices that provide more insight for the reader. JCM is our most ambitious and I think best set to date. The Foreword is by NY Times best-selling SF author Kevin J. Anderson with a new Introduction by Richard A. Lupoff. Both editions are dedicated to Mr. Lupoff for his 50+ year contribution to the legacy of ERB.”

Some previous editions remain available from us, but all of them are now sold out from the publisher. This will follow rather quickly I believe, as it may be the most desirable yet. Just seeing the original Reed Crandall illustrations, which appeared in black & white in the Canaveral Press edition, now in color, is a delight. These were colored by the same amazing colorist who colored Frazetta's original b&w cover art for Tarzan and the Castaways (which we offer as a limited edition dust jacket).

There are additional illustrations by John Coleman Burroughs, Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Steve Rude, Robert Abbett, Joe Jusko, Richard Corben, Motochiro Takebe, and Julian Krupa (from the original pulp magazine interior art). All the J. Allen St. John art from the first publication in Amazing Stories is here, including the color cover. Each book has a unique two-page title spread featuring reproductions from the original pulp magazine appearances. All type has been reset from the original editions and then wrapped around the 72 b&w illustrations in the first story. Several fold-out art pages, special die-cut bookmark, it just keeps on coming...

Includes additional facsimile inserts of two postcards to fabled ERB bibliographer Rev. Henry Hardy Heins from Dick Lupoff and Canaveral Press, and a letter to ERB-dom publisher Camille Cazedessus from Canaveral Press, with more details about the edition and plate changes for an early correction.
