$19.99
Signed bookplate! The illustrated story the film was based on. Our Highest Recommendation. By Neil Gaiman. Art by Charles Vess. It is here in Wall that young Tristran Thorn loses his heart to the town beauty--a woman as cold and distant as the star she and Tristran see fall from the sky on a crisp October evening. To gain the hand of his beloved, Tristran rashly vows to fetch the fallen star and embarks upon a lover's quest that will carry him over the ancient wall and into a world beyond his wildest imaginings...a world of witches and demons, of a star-become-human, of true love. Bonus: 38 pages including six all-new works by Vess, and an image from a proposed sequel!

Bonus: 38 pages including six all-new works by Vess, and an image from a proposed sequel!

The bonus pages include the original proposal written by Gaiman and with a drawing by Vess; page upon page of special studies and extra color illustrations. When this edition was announced, Charles saw his chance to return to the story to illustrate specific scenes not in the earlier edition, and he includes those here, all full page works and they are lovely.

Half a crusading epic, half based in Tolkien-esque mythology, Neil Gaiman's award-winning graphic novel fantasy is now back in a brand-new edition! It's a wonderful book for all ages.

"Vess' generously detailed paintings perfectly capture the beauty, oddness and terror of [the land of] Fairie." -San Francisco Chronicle

"The story alone is wonderful, but enhanced by the gorgeous artwork on nearly every page (175 color paintings in total), this book becomes a treasure." -SF Site

"...a splendid piece of tale-spinning and a genuinely moving, eloquent account of a journey beyond the everyday." -Locus
