The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #1 was released October/November 1970. There were just 1,000 copies in the first printing (white cover) and 800 in the second printing (blue cover). The Guide has itself become a collectible over the years. A copy of a first printing of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #1 CGC 9.2 has sold for $9,000!

For five decades, the Guide has been The Bible of comic book collectors, dealers and historians.

There are quite a number of covers reproduced in b&w, though reproduction is, as I said above, not too great. And don't use this one for artist and writer credits...they are few and far between. You get title, publisher, publication years, just three grades of pricing, and sometimes key origins and heros mentioned. This is pretty elementary. The big shock is the prices--ones that we'd all be thrilled to pay today, after 50 years of inflation and appreciation. It certainly makes the case for comics being a great investment in those days.

Also available in hardcover. A $100 deluxe edition of 100 copies was done, but it was allocated and we were unable to get any copies.
