Hey, it’s all here, culture-lovers: walking dead folks (loads of ‘em)--some of them even still sporting their heads—witches, ghosts, werewolves and enough vampires to go into the second-hand dentures business. Another oddball pre-code horror title, this time from tiny publisher Comic Media, who recognized the talent of Don Heck and used him for many of their best covers (and stories). They also published Danger, Horrific and Terrific, all titles well known for their extreme violence, over-the-top horror, pretty girls and more.

Artists also include H.C. Kiefer, Don Perlin, C.A. Winter, John Belcastro, Rudy Palais, Pete Morisi and Mannie Banks.

Rudy Palais has some outstanding work here; we've illustrated the splash page of one of his stories here. Pete Morisi is better known for his later work at Charlton Comics, including some fine superhero work. But here he was just getting started, and it's fun to see him on a different genre.

Don Heck's covers are simply classics and today are collected as an end in themselves. But he also drew some of the best work here, again, as a young artist who was having a devil of a time...
