Description

Find out what made EC among the most influential comic book lines ever in this complete and newly re-colored collection! Seminal scifi stories by the creators above, plus Harry Harrison and Graham Ingels. Introduction by Star Wars creator, George Lucas!

New introduction by Grant Geissman. Includes such classic stories as Kurtzman’s “Man and Superman,” “Lost in the Microcosm,” “The Man Who Raced Time” and “Sounds from Another World,” Feldstein’s “Spawn of Venus,” Kamen’s “The Eternal Man,” and “The Flying Saucer Invasion.”

Watch all these artists beginning to flex their muscles, obviously enjoying what they were creating in these amazing stories that captured the imaginations of 1950s comics fans. EC was proudest of the science fiction, and here you will see the very beginnings of that short-lived but wonderful era. And it’s amazing how good so many of the Kurtzman stories are, long before Mad took his attention–and his artwork–in other directions.

Dark Horse brings their usual high quality design and production values to the creation of collector’s editions of these seminal comics.

Bill Gaines was an American publisher and co-editor of EC Comics. Following a shift in EC’s direction in 1950, Gaines presided over what became an artistically influential and historically important line of mature-audience comics. He published the popular satirical magazine Mad for over 40 years. He was posthumously inducted into the comic book industry’s Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame (1993) and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame (1997).
