Description

The legendary designer’s sketchbook for the Poltergeist sequel, filled with psychedelic shape-shifting ghosts and grotesque monsters. This facsimile edition contains 155 never before published drawings, from worm-like ghosts to soul-sucking monsters, as well as correspondence between Giger and director Brian Gibson. Printed in Germany, this is a rather small book.

“Unlike his on-set work on Alien (1979) — a detailed account of which is given in his Alien Diaries (2013, first edition, from the same publisher) — this time Giger worked remotely from Zurich, airmailing his airbrushed designs to Los Angeles. His absence, as well as misunderstandings with the movie’s director Brian Gibson and the studio, and a meager production budget, lead to the dark inscrutability and amorphous plasticity of Giger’s shape-shifting sketches falling flat on celluoid.” -from the back cover text.

This is a specialty book, from a small publisher in Germany. That said we have to add the the caveat, it seems priced pretty high for what it is. But since we handle all Giger material, we have it. Just be sure you want it.
