Description

Expect the unexpected when ImageS does a “Glamour Issue”! Featuring a cover and six pages of paintings by Gustave Mossa (a superb but obscure French Art Nouveau & Symbolist artist) as well as gorgeous illustrations from Edmund Dulac, William Russell Flint, Charles Robinson, Willy Pogany, Coles Phillips, Warwick Goble and Arthur Rackham. Also features theatre magazine covers by Henry Clive and a special look at the pen and ink drawings of Heinrich Kley.

Also here, rare works by Harvey Dunn, Hermann Vogel, Orson Lowell, Norah Nielson Gray, Eduard Ikun, Antonie Calbert, and others.

A wonderfully varied collection of rare work by illustrators taken from magazines and books published prior to 1923. The artists will be familiar, but these images are culled from very obscure sources and have never been reprinted. Editor Jim Vadeboncoeur carefully scans each image and corrects it, often taking taking badly printed original appearances and vastly improving them. He also often features art from original artwork, have many sources for such material.

Jim spares no time nor expense to make this the finest possible magazine, printed on high quality heavy glossy paper, in the U.S. Each page is beautifully reproduced using the latest and best technology (Stochastic Printing, which yields blacker blacks and richer colors).

Vadeboncoeur has collected art and illustration for near 50 years now, so his sources are vast. Even the most veteran collector will find not only images from favorite artists that are new, but artists themselves who have previously escaped attention. I say this from first-hand experience, being a collector as long as Jim has been, but seeing both artists and images new to me.
