Description

From 1899, fantasy-story silhouettes of incredibly delicate and detailed illustrations. Jane E. Cook (1835-1920) illustrates Jack and Jill, The Queen of Hearts, My Pretty Maid Going a-Milking, Sing a Song of Six Pence and other nursery rhymes.

These silhouettes were created with white paper and a pair of scissors…with additional details made by delicately marking the paper with the fine point of a stiletto. The original printing process called Autotype was used to create this book from J.M. Dent in England. The original dark maroon of the backgrounds has been here replaced with blue for aesthetic reasons.

A superb example of fine silhouette work, appealing to all ages.
