Description

Jim Silke (Jungle Girls, Rascals in Paradise, Pin-Ups Past and Present) furnishes the introduction and walks the viewer though his work by providing descriptive captioning for each previously unpublished piece, from the original artwork. Designed to provide the experience of leafing through Silke’s private portfolio of pin-up art. Silke was a good friend of Dave Stevens and his work was influenced by Dave.

The tight pastel rendering of a nude femme fatale ushers forth the rough-hewn conceptual art of an unpublished Rascals in Paradise tale. It is a volume as eclectic as it is personal to the artist himself. Comprised solely of previously unpublished works, and spanning the last twenty-five years, this lavish collection is a guided tour of the artist’s studio, with the creator himself as the guide.

LIMIT OF ONE COPY PER ORDER, WITH AN ORDER FOR ANY OTHER BOOK. It’s also part of our FREE COMIC BOOK DAY this year. You must add to your cart or order form.

Jim Silke is a legend among pinup artists and the creator of renowned graphic novels Rascals in Paradise and Bettie Page, Queen of the Nite. He also compiled the now out-of-print Bettie Page: Queen of Hearts, which we (Bud Plant) co-published with Dark Horse. Amazingly, he only turned to drawing and writing comics at the age of sixty. Before then, he was a writer, an art director for Capital Records and designer of many iconic LPs, novelist, screenwriter, costume designer, Chairman of Film Studies at the American Film Institute, and Chairman of the Californian Art commission. He was a long time friend of artist Dave Stevens and wrote the introduction to Just Teasing: The Pin-Up Art of Dave Stevens.

Jim has an all new book coming out soon.
