Description

This is one wild collection, erotic and kinky paintings! In the course of his acclaimed career in the 1970s and 1980s, Emanuele Taglietti painted more than 500 covers for such books as Zora the Vampire, Sukia, Mafia, and 44 Magnum. Taglietti was one of the outstanding artists of the golden age of Italian comics, and crime and horror were his specialties. His iconic work, overflowing with violence and eroticism, is unforgettable.

This highly visual biography displays page after page of his amazing full-color paintings, explores his fascinating life and career, and takes a look behind the scenes at his exacting technique. It’s like horror and adventure on steroids, with busty, naked women everywhere — tied up, being threatened, lovely naked vampires seducing other women, monsters and James Bond types all part of the mix.

It’s way over the top, and very, very little of this has ever before been seen in the U.S. Taglietti is a fine artist and the work here is beautifully reproduced, much of it from the original paintings. This was obviously a very popular genre in Italy (where morals were more relaxed on comics than in the U.S.). He would have done great on Vampirella, but the cover nudity would have never passed muster here.

A must-have for comic book fans, artists, and popular culture aficionados alike, loads of never-before-seen photos and art. A unique retrospective of one of the greats of the golden age of Italian comics, a must-have for fans of pulp art.
