The legendary comics novel with artwork by two of Britain’s finest creators. You don’t want to miss this! The second thrilling omnibus lost Sci-Fi classic from the sixties the New York times called “highly detailed visions of fantastic worlds.” Among the distant stars, fractious tribes come together to found a mighty empire that will wage war against aggressive kingdoms, battle alien invaders, and conceive of incredible new technologies. This extraordinary volume continues to chart the glorious Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire, where the splendor and savagery of ancient Rome meets advanced jet planes and even space technology and aliens.

A landmark in British comics history, painted by the legendary Don Lawrence in stunning, classic style, working with Ron Embleton (Oh, Wicked Wanda from Penthouse) and springing from the grandiose pen of Mike Butterworth, this is an epic tale that creates a new far-future science fiction mythos that captured the imagination of a generation, beginning in Britain in 1965.

Features an introduction from one-time Don Lawrence apprentice Chris Weston (The Filth). A dense, complex story that will brings you hours of reading. Don’t hurry through, because every page of artwork deserves extra attention — it’s some of the finest-drawn comics ever, not just in England but also in the U.S.

If you aren’t already convinced that this is a must-have series, here just the first paragraph of a long Wikipedia entry on this amazing series:

The Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire, later called simply The Trigan Empire, is a science fiction comic series written mainly by Mike Butterworth with artwork (initially watercolours, later gouache) by Don Lawrence, among others. It told the story of an alien culture in which futuristic technology, such as antigravity vehicles and energy ray weapons, was blended with architecture, dress, and customs reminiscent of ancient civilizations, the most obvious being those of Ancient Greece and Rome. The stories revolved around a strong and heroic leader who defended his empire from constants threats from both without and within. The comic remains notable for the unique artwork by Don Lawrence which combines a painterly photo-realistic style with caricaturistic [sic] renderings that remain anatomically convincing.
