- Full Description
Sanctum Books (The Shadow, Doc Savage) presents this new series, this time again showcasing the cowled superhero whose creation paralleled Batman's. First, with the outbreak of World War II, from March 1940, foreign spies flood the United States to challenge the Nemesis of Crime in "The Black Bat's Spy Trail," edited by future Batman editors Mort Weisinger and Jack Schiff!
Then, from the 1943 pulp issue, a rogue Nazi agent offers former District Attorney Tony Quinn a deal he can't refuse in "Captains of Death." Golden Age Of Comics Bonus: The Mask returns in a rare 1940 illustrated classic from Nedor's Exciting Comics #3, drawn by Kin Platt.
Features the original color pulp covers by Ernest Chiriacka and Rafael deSoto and the classic interior illustrations by Harry Parkhurst, an artist well-known for his wonderful pulp covers for the "Saucy" and "Spicy titles, as well as some unsung but excellent comic book stories.
Also includes the usual fascinating, behind-the-scenes historical commentary by Will Murray. These stories feature author Norman A. Daniels as "G. Wayman Jones".
