- Beautifully drawn, intriguing story
I really enjoyed this. It takes six French graphic albums and puts them all together in one massive softcover, for a very reasonable price. It's beautifully drawn and it's an intriguing story, told over thousands of years but all coming to fruition today. The prehistoric ancestor of the Great White Shark has made it to the modern day, along with several other prehistoric denizens of the deep. But that is just the beginning of this complex, very well characterized story.
I spent several nights reading this...it really does give you a lot...and was regretting coming to the end, putting to rest my enjoyment of several of the fine characters here: an oceanic woman scientist who's also the mother of a very, very different young girl; a seemingly mercenary ex-navy pilot who's selflessly helping both the good guys and, apparently, the bad guys. So I was especially pleased to find there is both a prequel of shorter stories, and coming in late 2019, another collection that carries on with the story that seemingly wrapped up in this volume.
