This collects about half of what's in the second Supergirl Omnibus edition, which contains #252-307. Here's my description of that, which applies just as well to this and the first softcover volume:

I find these vintage stories charming and fun to read. This was back when Superman was still keeping Supergirl a secret--she had to hide her very existence from the world while also doing super-heroic deeds, much like Superboy did in the early seasons of Smallville. Superman creator Jerry Siegel worked on these, along with the talented Otto Binder and they are quintessential Silver Age stories, fun, innocent, each one complete in itself. These are all backup stories from the back pages of Action Comics.

Making her comics debut in Action Comics #252, from 1959, the Girl of Steel quickly became Superman's secret weapon. And she became a key hero and yet a unique and different character in the DC Universe.

In these initial stories, Supergirl, like her cousin Superman a survivor of the planet Krypton, adjusts to life on Earth with her adoptive parents, the Danvers. The stories alternate between small town slice of life tales, Supergirl's own efforts to master her new powers, and time-travelling jaunts into the far future and past. Plus: How can Supergirl babysit a Superman who's been mysteriously transformed into an infant?

Featuring excellent work by artist Jim Mooney, who began his career at independent comics companies in the early 1940s, quickly graduated to doing work for DC, and stuck with them for decades. He's also well known for his Silver Age stint on the odd but beloved Dial H for Hero and the wonderful, solo Robin stories in Star Spangled Comics back in the 1940s. A massive, satisfying collection of one of the best series from the early Silver Age.
