Highly Recommended. By Alvin Schwartz. Art by Wayne Boring. These newspaper strips are among the rarest of all Superman collectibles. This comprehensive series helps remedy this gap in Superman history by bringing back into print every one of the daily strips. In these fifteen storylines, Superman faces off against the "Crime Mentalist" who can predict crimes before they happen; finds himself locked up for speeding in "Superman, Jailbird;" plays cupid to help a millionaire Prince Charming find the mysterious "Miss Whisper;" and is at the mercy of Enthor's paralyzing weapon! Plus "Lois's Secret Identity" and "The Super Elixir."

These black and white daily newspaper strips are among the rarest of all Superman collectibles. This comprehensive series helps remedy this by bringing back into print every one of the daily strips. In these fifteen storylines, in this volume alone, Superman faces off against the "Crime Mentalist" who can predict crimes before they happen; finds himself locked up for speeding in "Superman, Jailbird;" plays cupid to help a millionaire Prince Charming find the mysterious "Miss Whisper;" and is at the mercy of Enthor's paralyzing weapon! Plus "Lois's Secret Identity" and "The Super Elixir."

Introduction by Sidney Friedfertig. In it he explains how writer & Alvin Schwartz" ...enjoyed the longer story length allowed in newspaper strip episodes, as apposed to short comic book tales. It permitted more fully realized character development." During the final years of the newspaper strips, comic book stories were regularly adapted to strips but could be nicely expanded with a panel count as much as 50% greater than the original. This made plotting far more important, and DC editor Jack Schiff worked closely with Schwartz to develop some exceptionally good stories. They even recall they greatly enjoyed these plotting sessions.
