From the introduction by renowned creator Mark Waid with John Wells:"At the same time the Superman newspaper strip was running coast-to-coast, Superman (as an adult, or as his teenage self, Superboy) was appearing regularly in seven different comic book series, generating so many adventures that DC editor Mort Weisinger saw no reason to invent new ones for the dailies-and-Sundays audience...Weisinger would grab a recent Superman comic book (or, likely, an actual original script) and have it recycled for artist Wayne Boring..." And so Mark goes on to source every single story in this volume back the comic it first appeared in, with notes about changes and additions and differences--while Wayne Boring was interpreting material originally drawn by artists from Kurt Schaffenberger to Curt Swan. His comments are often great fun, but too numerous to detail here.

A comprehensive series that remedies a gap in comics history, bringing back all the Superman Sunday strips--among the character's rarest collectibles, never before reprinted. The next volume will finish this fascinating run of Silver Age Sunday Pages. Wonderful period-style cover by Pete Poplaski, who has done the covers for this entire series of newspaper reprints.
