"Having been an Edgar Rice Burroughs fan since 1968," says Murray, "the opportunity to bring this iconic character back to life means a great deal to me. I've pulled out all the stops to faithfully replicate [ERB's] storytelling style...and recreate the original era of Tarzan of the Apes."

After finishing flight training with the Royal Air Force, John Clayton, Lord Greystoke, is given a mission to locate a British military intelligence operative. Agent Ilex's plane went down in the vast wilderness where only Tarzan is brave enough to enter. From RAF flyer, Tarzan slowly reverts back to the primitive in order to stay alive in this new and even more deadly corner of Pal-ul-don.

This is the lost land that he first encountered in ERB's Tarzan the Terrible which has always been a favorite novel for many fans. Tarzan finds dangers both known and unknown in this prehistoric land filled with carnivorous saber-tooth tigers and triceratops--and an entirely new menace, poison-dart-blowing spider-men.

Tarzan also befriends a lost elephant which he finds trapped in the swamp surrounding Pal-ul-don, and along with another warrior he befriends, they work together to find the lost flyer--who has his own surprise secret! Buckingham's short sequel also brings in unfinished business from Tarzan the Untamed.
